Are Tree Limb and Branch Failures Predictable?

Often, when tree limbs and branches fail, many questions arise. Was this tree's failure foreseeable? Would an arborist have found the issue that caused it to fail? Was the cause of the failure an "Act of God"?

To answer these questions, we conduct detailed investigations and often can reconstruct what the subject tree actually looked like prior to its failure, and if it had any defects that would provide outward evidence that it was a likely candidate to have happened as it did.
