Tree Protection

Many times, cities or property owners put tree protection ordinances in place or want to preserve tree assets. There are negative impacts of construction. Trees can be quite vulnerable to the injuries they sustain during the construction of a building or other activities.

Not to mention, these kinds of ordinances also promote more responsible planning measures. When conditions around them shift, trees need to be able to adapt. And yet, mature trees especially have established biological systems that make adapting more difficult. This is why an arborist's report is often required.

The type of protection needed is far more in-depth than just protective fencing. It has to start right initially, right from the planning stage. This is where Mark Webber's Arboricultural & Horticultural Consultancy can help. We evaluate the situation and recommend which trees have the best chance of survival. Next, it's about determining where grading may need to be changed and planning how to work around the root zones.

Construction, without question, can be disruptive and undermine a tree's overall health. Take compaction, for example. When heavy equipment rolls over tree roots or other soil is added to the root system, the oxygen supply decreases. The tree's ability to absorb water lessens. And this could very well lead to premature death.

Planning is key. If you have a building project coming up, take the time to meet with our team of Certified & Qualified arborists. Know what steps to take beforehand to preserve the life of the trees in question. We have the knowledge and experience to help you do things the right way.
